Our Pastor
Rev. Douglas Birse and his wife Carol came to us in the mid 80's. They now reside in the village and their home is always open to all. Rev. Birse attended the Kentucky Bible College in Louisville Kentucy. For many years during his tenure at the North Buxton Community Church, Rev. Birse worked a full time job at Dresden Ready mix, and Carol worked as a care giver with the elderly. They are both now retired and are devoted to a full time ministry here in North Buxton. Rev. Birse can be found most days in his office at the church, or visiting with the sick and shut in. Along with preparing for his weekly Message and other opportunities he is given to share the word of God, he also spends the time in his office preparing for his weekly Adult Sunday School Class, and weekly Bible Study, in counselling, study and in prayer. Carol Birse is very much a part of their ministry here in North Buxton. She serves as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Secretary of the Missionary Society, Teacher of the Kindergarten Class and she holds a weekly Bible Study at the Church hall for the ladies of the church and of the village.
The Birse's who are originally from the Niagara region have 3 sons and a daughter as well as 4 grandchildren. Rev. Birse and Carol are also very proud parents, grandparenst and great grandparents.

Our Music Ministry
Our Church Pianist Brandon Shadd recently returned to us from Edmonton Alberta. He is assisted by his mother Shelly Shadd who provided the music for us while Brandon was in Alberta. We are looking forward to having Brandon and Shelly play together on the piano and organ in the future.
Soloist Deborah Brown through her vocal music ministry frequently adds to our services.
We are sometimes ministered to by two different church choirs. One is directed by Cleata Morris who also directs the Friends of Buxton Male Choir. The other made up of a few members of our congregation and is known as the Praise Him Choir.
The devotional part of our morning services are led alternately by six different praise teams. Each team has their own unique style to their devotion, and each team involves a number of other people in our congregation on their Sunday. This leads to a lot of variety and interest in our worship openings, and encourages a larger number of people to add their voices in praise. |
